Which size Trance?
/5 Comments/in Ask Lee, Equipment, Tech tips/by leelikesbikesHey Lee,
Thanks for all the support & efort you put in to the sport. I am looking at the new Giant Trance x1, and fall between the medium and large frame size (I’m 6′ tall with a 32″ inseam). What are the pros and cons of going either way. I ride xc, but enjoy the tech and down more than the up.
Thanks again, Daniel
Build/ride session at Darner’s
/in Trail building/by leelikesbikesHi all. The 4X and DS tracks are a bit weedy and weather worn, but a little work will fix that. Let’s head out to Darner’s ranch in Nathrop Sept. 29-30 for some build/ride action.
For more info contact either Keith Darner or Lee McCormack.

Rigid fork for pump track action?
/2 Comments/in Ask Lee, Equipment/by leelikesbikesLee,
What are your thoughts on a rigid front fork for a dedicated pump track bike? I’m thinking that a rigid fork (like a DMR Trailblade 2) would be better for pump track riding than even a stiff suspension fork. Thoughts?
Suspension damping for trail riding

How do you like to set rebound and compression on standard trails? Mine are minimum rebound and minimum compression.

Manuals: Help, I’m tipping over!
/6 Comments/in Ask Lee, Skills/training/by leelikesbikes
Hey Lee,
Love your site and the book, great work on both mate.
I guess this has probably been done to death but im having alot of trouble with manuals and wheelies. Getting the front up and balancing front to back is easy, my problem is I always tip over sideways! People say move your hips and stuff, which ive tried…but once I start to go I just cant correct it.
Any ideas?
Cheers, Ash

What’s with the new Specialized Pitch?
/13 Comments/in Ask Lee, Equipment/by leelikesbikes
Hi Lee,
just wondering if you have ridden the new Specialized ‘Pitch’, and what type of riding it is best suited to? Any idea of it’s weight? How does it compare ride wise to either an Enduro or Stumpy FSR?
Cheers
Rich
It’s OK to walk
/10 Comments/in Life with a capital L/by leelikesbikesLife here is rolling along with a big, fat capital L. When things are changing and rocking and rolling, I guess you gotta pin the sections you know, roll the sections you don’t know and — yeah, get off and walk when you have to.

Adjusting geometry for freeride?
/5 Comments/in Ask Lee, Tech tips/by leelikesbikes
Hi Lee,
Love your book and your website! I am trying to decide how to set up my Cannondale Prophet. I ride mostly XC/trail stuff but next week I want to ride a trail with some drops (5ft) in it.
When I rode last week with the bike set to FR mode (low BB 67.5 HA) it saved my butt in a hidden rock in the grass of a fast downhill, but I fell of a skinny and went into the bushes on a slow switchback.
Normally I ride in the XC mode (normal BB and 69 HA). Would the FR set-up help a lot with the big drops? Or should I keep it in XC mode and have the better slow speed handling?
