Riding the SoCal high school pump track

After yesterday’s work, all we had to do today was shape. And ride. Did I say ride?
Today we placed the dirt and began shaping. Tomorrow, SoCal High School Cycling League riders and coaches will help us finish shaping. And, yeah, we shall ride.

Hey all, I’m heading to California for two weeks of pump track building and skills teaching, and a slot opened up. Who wants to rock some clinic action?
Here are some options:
Monday, Jan. 24: SoCal
Tuesday, Jan. 25: SoCal or Norcal
Wednesday, Jan. 26: NorCal
First to confirm gets it.
I can meet you and/or your crew at a local spot for some skills, drills and on-trail kung fu. This is always super fun, and I guarantee it will blow your mind! Clinics include signed books (BMX or mountain).
If you’re interested, please email me right away, and we’ll work out a time and place.
Rock!

If all goes well, the Stumpjumper HT EVO-R experiment will come together tomorrow.
It’s been about a year since I officially switched into pedaling mode, and I’m seeing a 20% increase in my climbing fu. I guess kids and work are no excuse to suck.
Cool little word that’s important to bike riders.
Dear Lee:
First off, thanks for sharing your wisdom in Mastering Mountain Bike Skills — I’m doing my best to suck less.
I ride a Specialized Stumpjumper FSR 29er and am wondering if your advice on handlebar position (both in the book and with your lovely graphic on the website) applies equally to 29ers? Or do the larger wheels imply lower bars?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts. I hope all is well with you.
Best,
Scott T
Now that I’m in contract with the Town of Superior, CO — design this month, dig in March — the game is on.
In my increasingly structured cycling life, the exciting event is my new LeMond Revolution trainer. LeMond says it feels more like real road riding than other trainers.
Let’s see.
Yesterday I rode the Stumpy on trail for the first time in six weeks. Since then it’s been hard training, a few sessions on the Enduro, way too much work and the kind of stress that makes decent men into jerks and me into something worse.
I’m excited about a new bike. A special new bike that will rail trails, slay pump tracks and spread the braaap gospel.
