Today’s Lyons Outdoor Games bike events are cancelled
Too much rain.
Too much rain.
I’m trying a high-end singlespeed 29er hardtail. Today I got a little XC ride and a short BMX session. So far so fun.
Lee,
Thanks for your incredible site! I was hoping you could help me turn my MTB. My local trails are hardpack with random patches of gravel. Some turns have sweet berms and most are flat. I really haul on the brakes before each turn, berm or no berm. Self-preservation is kicking in but I know I have tons more speed.
What are some “swing thoughts” to have when approaching turns? My friends are leaving me in the dust!
Thanks,
David
Q: Should full face helmets and race kit be legal in international pump track competition?
A: Yes, if the edges of the track are painted.
Fun stuff:
Just returned from a week of family fun time in Cabo San Lucas. It was quite the adventure with lots to tell, but for now:
I’m taking a week off for family fun time, but I can’t get totally soft.
Hey all, I’m doing a special bro-price public clinic to support Boulder Walk and Bike Month. This is your chance to learn the good stuff for cheap. Bring a loved one. Tell a friend!
In the past year, the Lyons Bike Park has become a fixture of the community and a destination for the region. The entire project, from materials to equipment to final shaping, was driven by volunteers, and it really showed what a community can achieve with tiny budget and huge love.
Last year’s dig day was so teeming, I couldn’t thank everyone by name. Saturday’s dig day — the birthday spruce-up and prep for June’s Lyons Outdoor Games — was so sparse it’s easy to thank everyone individually.
Lee,
I downloaded your on-line book a few weeks back and we have just
started shaping the pump track in our backyard. Man, it’s going to be
sweet. Anyhow, I was wondering which tires you recommend. I know I want
something fast with low rolling resistance but I probably also need a bit
of tread. What are your thoughts on the Maxxis Holy Roller, Kenda K-Rad,
and Intense MK2? Other suggestions?
Thanks for all your knowledge,
Jason
Last Friday I was rolling through Golden on the way back from a meeting in Littleton. My clients and I are working on a 60-page partnership proposal: the kind that determines how I pay my mortgage. It’s a fun and relaxing process. So so fun and relaxing that I was crawling out of my skin needing a ride.
I always see riders parked on the side of Highway 6, and I wonder what they’re up to. Turns out they’re riding a sweet trail.
The Lyons Bike Park is already a year old. She’s in great shape, but we want to give her some love before next months’ Lyons Outdoor Games.
Please come on out next Saturday, May 29, to clean up, make improvements, ride bikes and eat BBQ. Work goals include axing weeds, clearing rocks, re-shaping jumps and (if we have enough workers) building a new inner line on the pump track.
We’ll be out there all day. Who’s in?
Hey, I was wondering how I could ever face my fear of jumps. When I was 12, I ate major sh*t and got the breath knocked out of me for what felt like an hour. Ever since then, I have always been hesitant do jumps/drops. I know I have the skill to jump, but I can’t overcome this fear inside me. How should I get back in the air?
Joseph
