Braaaping for endurance

Lee

Just wanted to say thanks. Your teachings helped me to finished my first hundie, the Cohutta 100, and all I have to say is braaaping saved me untolds amount of time and energy.

During the endless suffering I quoted “the book” chapter and verse. I pumped every feature for free speed. I carved turns like Thanksgiving turkey.

And while there is no substitute for training hard, I believe that riding smart is part of a balanced training diet.

Thanks again. Erik

Lyons Bike Park: Ready for today’s work/ride sesh

Another huge day yesterday. Today we are ready to finish — and start riding !!! — the pump track, natural terrain loop, rollers and tables. The trick jumps are done and perfect. We’ll place the slalom as we get more dirt.

If you can, please come out today. We’ll have food and drinks. Bring tools and your bike. Helicopter parking is available.

Build/ride at Lyons Bike Park this Saturday!

This one will be fun. Please come out for some fine-tuning and “testing.”

– We’ll start at 9 a.m. and go all day. Bring any tools you have: shovel, metal rake, tampers, McCleods, skid steerers … helicopter parking is available.

– Bring your bike!!! We need to burn in the lines, my friends. The rock lines and trick jumps are already rideable.

– Lyons Bike Park is right next to Bohn Park in Lyons. Google map.

Lyons Bike Park: Another big day

It’s 10 p.m., and I’ve been pinned since 8 this morning. Quick update, super tired style:

– Built the Pyramid — a techy climb/descent with 4- to 18-inch sandstone ledges the whole way.

– Got the main start hill mostly shaped.

– Started marking out the tabletops, which will be placed tomorrow.

– Brandon finished Trick Jump #2. It is big and beautiful.

– Trick Jump #1 is PERFECT! Find your pedals, roll down the ramp, give it a light pump and … have I landed yet?

Tomorrow: Get all the elements placed, so we can shape and ride on Saturday.

Back to Lyons today

Sorry for the staleness of the site, but it’s all for good. While dirt and rocks are being hauled to the Lyons Bike Park site, I’m busy marking out the features with stakes and flags. Today I plan to double-check the main area — so we can start building it next week.
