Pump track question: Stacking dirt too high?

I am preparing to build a track like yours.”lee’s pump track” With a high water table I have to import dirt. I’ve made my french drains, and planed it all out. I saw a video clip of yours and got concerned. If I import dirt should I expect to see my track close to twice as tall as yours? that would be fine but will it ride as fast? I want to feel confident that if I spend a dump truck load of money on 8 dump truck loads of dirt that I will have a track that rips.

Pumping it up at Weir’s

Mark Weir has definitely taken the art of the pump track and turned it up to 11. We rocked his track post Sea Otter. The track is so extensive we rode maybe 1/10th of the lines.

Pump track dirt: Import or excavate?

Lee…I noticed from your pics that your pump track is cut a ways down into your yard. Did you do that to save money on dirt? I was thinking about digging into my yard here in Oklahoma to save some money but I am afraid of water collection problems. Does your track collect water? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for writing the ebook, it has been a great help.

Photos: Lory State Park pump track

The bike park is a wild success, with 25-35 riders visiting each non-snowy weekend day. The dream goal was 40 a week, so this is a great sign. Last week a vanload of us went up for a little photo shoot. This track is so rad.

Geometry for pump track bike?

Lee,
Thanks to your e-book digging has commenced (who really needed a garden anyway). I have a lot of tight radius turns and was curious if going with a shorter wheel based (42″ish) bike would help? Does a slack head angle say 67-68 ride a lot different than say a 69-70deg. I guess looking for the ultimate Geometry #s for a pump track machine. Thanks!

Sweet: Possum Town Pump Track

Hey Lee,
It all started with your write up in Dirt Rag Mag. Ordering your Pump Track Nation E-Book and then having 15 cubic yards of dirt dumped in the backyard. At 1st I was wondering about what I have gotten myself into. WOW, was it a lot of hard work. The town where we live is nick-named “Possum Town.” So that’s how I came up with the odd name “Possum Town Pump Track.”
Thanks
