How BMX bikes should fit
Here’s a draft page from my book-in-progress, Pro BMX Skills.
It’s amazing how similarly various BMX pros fit their bikes.
The book won’t be done so soon, so we might as well spread the love:
All the sweet bikes and parts. Mmm … parts.

Lee,
I’ve finally decided to get a new fork for my Blur LT. After much consideration and nearly 2 years on the 32 TALAS (recently rebuilt), I’ve decided to sell
the 32 and buy an 09 36 TALAS RC2. I have a wheel with 20mm hub (gift from a friend), but not sure if it’s burly enough (Sun) with no name hub. I have faith in my LBS and will follow their advice, but do you have any input? I currently have mostly LX components on bike. Current wheels have been great for 2 years on Montara Mountain (Mavic 321 with LX hubs).
Should I buy a hub (if so, suggestion?) and relace to the Mavic? Or run the sun with the mystery hub and upgrade later?
I’m still NOT hucking or dropping anything worth mentioning, but I do ride hard and heavy (200lbs with gear) on rocky terrain (with light hands) 😉
Take care. Tony
Hey Lee, Great to hear you are out riding again!
Your post sparked a few questions about your bike set up and training.

Lee,
I was wondering if when I see for example Darren Berrecloth in ROAM, does he really ride on Spec SX trail? That SX trail which I can buy from my local dealer?? or is it kinda special SX- only Darren- trail?;) The same for example with Gee Atherton rockin’ on Reign in Anti Gravity 2?…couse..if it can handle Gee or Darren for sure it will handle me;)
Greetings for new year from Poland 😉

If you’re not injured, and it isn’t snowing in your neighborhood, I hope you’re out ripping (go NorCal!). But if you, like me, are tied to the trainer, this is a great time to experiment.
HELP!!!
A friend has a RP3 with an eye to eye of 7.875″ and a stroke of 2.25″. Will this work on a 2003 Specialized Enduro Expert?????
Thanks!
Brian
This FOX announcement comes just in time.
Basically: 1) Unless you’re riding a 32 F29, you should only run 26 inch wheels. 2) Never, ever modify the structure of your fork to accommodate bigger wheels.
Aaron wants to build a sweet new Yeti 575 with a 650B front wheel. This brings up some issues. Let’s have a look, shall we?
Sergio is ripping a technical singletrack in Brazil called Dircuito das Pontes, and he’s wondering about his cockpit length. With video …
A clever reader mentioned an article in a German magazine about the effect of tire choice and terrain on rolling resistance. We can all read it using this free online translator.
Disclaimer: I wrote this story three years ago for VeloNews, and it was so intricate and demanding to read that even they wouldn’t run it. (Heck, I didn’t consider running it until I posted this story.)
The VeloNews editor also didn’t like the idea that, on a long trail ride, freeride tires might be faster than XC race tires. Trying to convince him that skill, cornering speed and confidence are more important than low weight and rolling resistance was a lost cause.
You’ve been warned. Now check out this action:
