Some fall clinic action
This is a great time of year for skills clinics. If you practice your kung fu all winter, you’ll be a master by spring.
Bonus: Yesterday’s weather was perfect.

This is always a busy time of year, teaching-wise. Maybe it’s the nice weather, or people are back in town after summer, or maybe they’re starting to think about next season. Whichever. This week was fun.
My kid Ian started riding bikes last March. At the time, it was mostly a way to avoid playing baseball, but he’s become a solid rider — and he’s gotten some of his buddies into Pump Track Nation.
Lyons, CO (leelikesbikes.com) – The mighty youths of Singletrack Mountain Bike Adventures showed Hall Ranch who is boss.
Dudes … I’ve been so pinned with the BMX book, a site redesign and random information architecture stuff that I’m going nuts. Too much work and not enough play makes Lee a grumpy boy.
But today — today — I’m riding Hall Ranch with the kids of SMBA. Heck yeah!!! Watch for photos of young people ripping singletrack.
This summer’s public clinics have been a ton of fun. Due to popular demand, we’re going to rock some Core Skills Clinics on July 26 and Aug. 2, 9 and 16.
There is no better (or cost effective) way to improve your cycling kung fu. Keep reading …
I suppose it’s a bit late, but I know where I want to go to high school.
Jordan, Jason, Adam and Keenan are all riding buddies from Texas, and last week they road-tripped to Keystone for three days of braaap. We spent the first day together.
Four riders joined me yesterday for an “aggro” clinic at The Fix in Boulder. We started with position, then we dove into manuals, hops, drops and pump. Tyler was stoked:
Hi all. Just returned from two weeks away; one in California teaching, one in Martha’s Vineyard sleeping and fishing. The sleeping was much more successful than the fishing. Highlights from the clinics, and the word of the week:
carn verb. To crash, to damage one’s flesh. Dude, my front tire washed out and I totally carned!
What: A skills clinic focused on pumping, manualing, hopping, dropping, aggressive cornering and, if the group is ready, jumping. This is like a Core Skills clinic, just tweaked toward “aggro” riding styles. We’ll start with riding position and work our way up the skills tree. Braaap!
When:Saturdays, June 21 and 28, noon to 3 p.m.
Where: The Fix bike shop, 3085 Bluff St., Boulder CO
Who: Me, you and a few other like-minded souls
Why: It’s fun! And you’ll gain skills that will enhance all of your riding — “aggro” or not.
Register: Paypal $100 to lee@leelikesbikes.com, or email me at lee@leelikesbikes.com and tell me you’re coming. Space is limited, so rock it now!
This week has been just as pinned as promised, and roughly twice as cool. I’m sitting at a truck stop on the Grapevine, about to go to bed, but I must report:
