Pump track design tip: Simple is good

Hi Lee

I’ve read your ebook “welcome-to-pump-track-nation” and it’s really great.
I’d like to build a pumptrack in my garden.
Attached you’ll find a picture of the total footprint.
Could you give me maybe a suggestion for the track?……I mean about the berms, rollers, interchanges……..It would be really great.
I can extend the length of the footprint if necessary (59 feet up to 63 feet).

Cheers
Stefan

Tips for building the Sea Otter 2010 pro pump track

Hi,

I bought your plans for the Sea Otter 2010 pro pump trackto build it at my new home which is currently under construction.

A few questions:
I have a 5-7 degree slope where I plan to put the pump track. Are there any considerations for elevation? Should I make it as flat as possible?
Living in Northwest PA our winters are tough. Any build/maintenance advice for keeping things in good condition?
My dirt contains a lot of shale. Is this manageable to build with or should I think of supplementing with top soil?
Thanks! I look forward to breaking ground soon.

Pump tracks: Minimum radius for a 260-degree turn?

Hi, pumptrack question…

In your last book you mention, that 6X9m land is needed for a minimal pump track. I have long but narrow land in my backyard, so in one part there is space only for one line that will be ridden in both directions. But the problem is almost 270 degree turn that slould be made in one end… What you think is minimal radius for a 260° turn?

A pump track fit for a prince

Hi Lee, I’m Kinley from the small kingdom of Bhutan.

I love mountain biking. We built a small pump track which is first of its kind here in Bhutan for the prince who is also very interested in mountain biking and is also a friend of ours. I have heard about you and your expertise and seen videos and also subscribed on your channel so we can learn more from your generosity.

I’m sending a picture and please do comment and let us know if it is okay.

This is the starter project. We will be building a bigger one for the public and the youth over here. We are just amateur mountain bikers and trail builders. Hoping to hear from you.

Cheers
Kinley

Pump Track Nation: Black Forest, Germany

Hey Lee,

Last year I bought your eBook Welcome to Pump Track Nation.

This year I started with the project “our own pump track in our garden.”

I wanted to thank you. Your ebook was really helpful and answered a lot of questions that I had.

Attached you will see the result. Maybe I will cover the track with better dirt, but the track works and my kids like the track.

Thank you for your ebook.

Kind regards from the Black Forest, Germany.

Meini H.

Meini!

Thanks for reaching out.

This is a beautiful track. I like all the line options, and the shapes look very good. It’s amazing what you can do with small rollers.

Have fun!

Lee

Will the Pumptopia pump track fit in my space?

Lee, how are ya?! I have a couple questions for you: I’ve finally pulled trees out of a spot and received permission to lay down a pump track. I was initially thinking of using the same dirt I am going to pull from the ground to level the hill, but I am wondering if maybe investing in already screened loam would be a better option, as I will undoubtably run into rocks and other debris, as I am building. So, my first question is, approximately how many yards of material am I looking at to properly do Pumptopia at its original estimated size? 2nd, I am trying to decide if the footprint will work in my spot. It is a rough rectangle approximately 88’ x 57’. I see in the overhead photo that a part of the track extends out, opposite of the straight away. Am I correct in assuming that would be the depth of approximately 55’? Thanks a lot Lee!

Top 5 pump track mistakes

Lee,
I am an intern with the City of Temecula’s Planning Department, and we are currently in the early phases of researching and planning to build a pump track. I have been tasked with compiling research and gathering information regarding important “do’s and don’ts” of designing pump tracks.

We’ll be ordering a copy of your Pump Track Nation book soon, but I was wondering if there are any specific things you would say a city should prioritize, avoid, or otherwise keep in mind throughout the design/build process?

Thank you,

James Thomas

Quick look at this Columbian pump track design

Dear Lee,
We recently bought your book “Welcome to pump track nation.”
We live in the countryside, about 30km away from Bogotá, in Colombia.
Our son, Rafael, is a 17-year-old enduro rider and he had a few months ago, the great idea of building a pump track.
We would really like you to help and guide us. We have a pump plan already but it would be great if you could take a look at the land we have for this purpose, and give us your precious opinions and tips.
Thank very much and we hope to hear from you very soon!
Paula, Enrique and Rafael
