Knobbies on snow

Here in Colorado, cold is settling in and snow is settling down. It seems like time to hang the wheels and wax the skis, but — no! — not yet.

To sum up a recent trail ride:

  Fresh snow – Smooth. Fun.

  Ice – Slippery. Ouch!

  Mountain lions – Large. Scary.

Fresh snow has a delicious friction — like motoing in sand or (duh) skiing in powder.
