Sweet singletrack at Buffalo Creek, CO

I’ve been hearing about these flowy trails for years, and I finally got a chance to ride ’em. Very nice.

Where: Buffalo Creek Mountain Bike Area, about 40 minutes southwest of Golden on highways 285 and 126.

Who: Me, Brett and Farid. Both of these guys are strong and quick. I was way off the back on the climb.

Route: Gashouse > Charlie’s Cutoff > Homestead > Sandy Wash. About two hours of riding.

Up: Moderate climb up a fire road then a twisty/rolling singletrack. Mostly middle ring.

Down: Fast and flowy. There are almost no rocks, but there are many turns — many of them loose and tricky. Good stuff.

Much of the area has burned recently. The exposure here feels like SoCal or Arizona.

Brett transitions into a tight left.

I plant my tires high on the bank then unclip to drop into the turn.

Farid rocks his Enduro SL.

Brett says braaap!

Nice transition from this high-side to the next turn. Buff Creek is all about transitions between turns.

I drifted higher up the bank then had to force the issue.

There were lots of riders, but the park is so big it never felt crowded.
