Strength and enduro training with P2PI?

Lee,

I just bought your Prepare to Pin It training program, and I have a couple questions.

I’m also going to be incorporating some of the workouts from Enduro MTB Training. Should I do those strength/mobility exercises on the easy days of P2PI?

Also, since my main goal is enduro racing and many of the stages are 6-15 minutes long, on the fun/quality ride days, should I try to focus my efforts on rides where I can push at full steam for those longer intervals when I can?

Ryan

Hey Ryan,

Thanks for buying P2PI. If you follow the key workouts you should see huge results.

Strength workouts: The whole off/on bike training thing gets tricky.

OPTION A: Lift on your easy bike days. That’s the classic approach.

OPTION B: Lift on your hard bike days. This way you actually get rest days.

Lately I tend toward B. I just can’t recover from 2-3 hard bike days and 2-3 hard lifting days each week. Actually, I do a light stability/mobility/strength workout almost every day. That’s just what my body needs.

Try both and see what works for you.

Intervals: When you’re away from racing season, do general preparation (and fun) as shown in Pump Up the Base and Prepare to Pin It. As you get closer to racing, make your fun/quality days look more and more like enduro days:

Ride up a big hill.
Pin it down.
Ride up another hill.
Pin it down.
Repeat.

That sounds like fun!
