Flat pedals for a beginner

Hey, quick question. I’m thinking about getting into some flat pedals for a bike I’ve mocked up for jumping and stuff. Any recommendations? Oh, I’ve also heard that a pair of shin/knee guards are necessary for “beginners” on the flats.

What’s up with 9-speed?

Hi Lee,

I was thinking lately about the whole 9speed thing in DH and 4X.

You can get almost the same gear range with a 8speed and you’ll get smoother and more precise shifting.

So why do most of the guys ride with 9speed?

Cheers,

Simo

Fork for Demo 8

Hi Lee, I just got my new Specialized Demo 8 frame, and I built it up with parts I already had laying around, with hopes of upgrading in the future. I know you have been riding one of these for a while, and I was wondering what fork feels balanced with this frame? Right now I have a 2002 monster T, and it feels heavy for the bike, but I haven’t ridden it off road yet. I plan on lots of riding at Keystone this season. I’ve had my eye on a new Travis, what do you think of these on the Demo 8s? Thanks, man

Movie – Underworld: Evolution

I usually stay out of the mass media stuff, but let me save you money and disappointment. DO NOT see Underworld: Evolution. The only redeeming qualities: 1). Brief but high-quality nudity. 2) I got a couple nice naps — but the heroine kept waking me up with inanities.
