The City of Boulder is planning a big, sweet bike park. Last week the park designers held a review meeting at The Fix. If you’re wondering what time it is, it’s time for you to get involved.
Preliminary plans will be unveiled at The Fix at 7 p..m this Friday. This is your chance to provide input. More details:
My arch enemy Zach and I did an out-and back today, and it was excellent. Now I can comment on both directions:
After 10 years of planning and work by BMA, IMBA, Boulder County Parks and hundreds of volunteers, the new Picture Rock Trail opened last week. It is long, technical and tasty.
Hey Lee
I have just recently heard that the good folks at sandhill ranch might be considering shutting down the bike section because of unknown reasons. I personally consider this a horrible thing to happen. If I had the opportunity to help them keep the area open or help maintain the park, I would.
Can you PLEASE help me rally the braaapers and help please keep this wonderful area open.. What forums can I write to? Who can I motivate to help? Can IMBA help us? If you have any suggestions can you please send it our way? I’m deeply worried. If it was a matter of money I would pay double what they charge. If its a matter of up keep, I would volunteer. thoughts? Your expertise and knowledge is valued and respected. Please help me keep this heaven open.

Hi Lee,
I incorporated your suggestions for opening up the berms slalom style and we built the track this weekend. It ROCKS! Thanks for your help. All of your input made a HUGE difference!
Best Regards, Lou
I rarely offer specific feedback on pump track designs, but Louis here bought the ebook, is building a public track and raised a good question. So here we go:
At yesterday’s D-R-D session at Darners’s, we enjoyed nice-but-windy weather and some excellent riding.
The snow is gone, and the racetracks need love from rakes, brooms and shovels. Come on out this Saturday.
Hi Lee,
Here’s a question for you or other readers out there. What do you recomend to make wooden surfaces less slick in a damp environment? I’ve seen chicken wire but I worry about sharp edges puncturing tires and people, especially after some rusting.

Hi Lee,
I haven’t been here in a while, but Spring is around the corner and I am about to order more dirt for my somewhat settled pumptrack. My question is…
What is the best way to “mesh” new dirt with the old, hard packed track?? Should I wet the old track and put the dry dirt on top of the mud and then re-water? I’m afraid that I will end up with a bunch of new, loose dirt over the hard stuff. Thanks Lee!
